Blackwood Forest

Ancient Woodlands

Legends say that Blackwood Forest is as old as the world itself; its trees are thousands of years old and the creatures that live within its confines grow larger and older than those that do not. No one knows for sure why this is but it is believed to be related to the ancient magical lines that intersect underneath the ground.

What is known is that this magic draws those who know how to channel it. Druids and elementalists seek out these lines, and whatever grows around it, in the hope of tapping into this ancient power source.

Dark Crystals

Crananx crystals grow where ancient lines of magical energy intersect. Brimming with power the crystals can be unpredictable, often discharging their energy with little or no warning.

Flesh-Eating Flora

There are plants growing in Blackwood Forest that grow nowhere else in the Northern Realms, plants which trap and kill animals and even unsuspecting travellers.

Blackwood Forest

At over fifteen million acres Blackwood Forest covers nearly a quarter of the entire realm of Delathorn. Those intending to fell the trees for lumber have always mysteriously disappeared meaning the woodland has remained generally untouched.

Those who have ventured into the depths of the forest tell tales of a man who lives in the bough of a tree and who can speak to the plants.

One of the more peculiar species found in Blackwood Forest is the Thoriztail mushroom, a rare fungus that is believed to be able to heal the most severe wounds, neutralise the most deadly of poisons and has even been known to bestow life-giving properties.
